Folk Music Festivals of European Broadcasting Union have been organized for 25 years. Each time they take place in a different country. In 2005 the Festival will be organized in Gdansk by Polish Radio, on its 80th anniversary. The goal of the Festival is to promote the tradition of European nations, support ethnic and national identity as well as to support young artists taking inspiration in the local tradition. In Gdansk the Festival venues will be the stage in Dlugi Targ and St. John´s Centre. The Baltic Sea Cultural Centre, as the co-organizer of this year´s edition of the Festival, will organize "The Concert of the Hosts" in St. John´s Centre referring to the long tradition of the Music Festival Inspired by Folk "Sounds of the North". This concert will show how the musicians of the local jazz scene use and transform traditional Pomeranian motifs. More information:
