Rahul Roy did an M.A. in film and television production at the Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi, and has worked as a documentary film-maker since graduation. His films, Dharmayuddha, Nasoor, Invisible Hands Unheard Voices, Khel, When Four Friends Meet and The Performance, focus on issues related to communalism and gender. He is currently working on a series of documentaries on the theme of masculinities under a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship. He has also been writing and conducting workshops in South Asia on this theme.
