Alert lens on China
The Chinese photographer Aniu amazes Western eyes with his exhibition called "Times of Fantasy".
When the photographer Aniu travels around China and uses a camera to portray the country and its population, the most important thing is not China, but the photographs, which with their special dusty and dark colours are anything but exercises in mimicking physiological sight.
Aniu´s works depict the world and the people of modern Chinese society that surround him. The photos do not present China in an ethnographic way as documentation, but in a more artificial and interesting way.
Aniu´s sensitive approach to life is reflected in the special universe of these photographs.
The river bears with it a diversity of scenery, stories and dizzying moments. Every drop has its own conception of the world. And every ripple reflects the gaudy, vulgar, and hopeful appetite of the omnivorous metropolis where every grain of sand has its own melancholy story to tell.
