Abhilash Pillai (born 1969) is visiting faculty at the National School of Drama, Delhi. He was selected as a Trainee Director at Orange Tree Theatre, London, in 1998. His directorial assignments in London included Survivors (Amrit Wilson’s play) and Departures (a multimedia production in collaboration with Gavin O’Shea, Bea Hut and Maya Rao) for the London International Festival of Theatre in 1999. He also designed Jatinder Verma’s Nagawanti for Tara Arts, and the Bold and Saucy Theatre’s (Oxford) production of Romeo and Juliet. More recently, Abhilash has directed C.N. Sreekantan Nair’s Lanka Lakshmi; Ant Anant; C.J. Thomas’s Aa Manushen Nee Thanne; C.N. Sreekantan Nair’s Saketam; Scavenger’s Son, based on Thakazhy Sivasankara Pillai’s novelette; a Hindi version of Aeschylus’s Prometheus Unbound; a version of Bhasa’s Urubhangam; and Island of Blood, based on Anita Pratap’s novel.
