Akinbode Akinbiyi was born in 1946 in Oxford, Great Britain. In 1972, self-taught, he began practicing photography. Since 1977 he has lived and worked in Berlin as a freelance photographer. He is co-founder of the cultural center “UMZANSI” in Clermont Township, South Africa. His long-term projects document urban life in West and South Africa.
