Curator vs. Artist

Eugeny Umansky was born 1961 in Nizhni Tagil, Ural, Russia.
In 1987 he graduated from the Leningrad Hydrometeorological Institute on the speciality Oceanology and since 1989 has been working as a free artist.
In 1992 Umansky become a Director of the private gallery of modern painting, graphic and photo in Kaliningrad.
Since 1997 he´s been an Art-director of the Kaliningrad Branch of the National Center for Contemporary Art, Russia (KB NCCA).
Since 2002 he´s been a Director of the International illustrated edition on contemporary art "pH" (
He lives and works in Kaliningrad, Russia.
