Asian economic perspectives

Li Wei is a young economic academic from Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation. This organization is an important think-tank in China´s foreign trade policies.
The Chinese economist Li Wei´s fields of specialisation are East Asian economic cooperation, especially trade and economic cooperation between ASEAN and China.

Mr. Li is one of the first scholars in China who have focused on studies of the regional economic cooperation in East Asia, and he has served as a key role in promoting China´s regional economic cooperation moves.

Mr. Li is involved in China´s foreign trade policies by drafting papers for government departments. He has also written articles for influential Chinese journals, such as People´s Daily, the Economic Observer, Intertrade, China Business Monthly, etc.

The readers of these journals are mainly governmental officials, economic scholars and foreign trade businessmen. He has also been invited to China´s CCTV to comment on most updated economic events.

Furthermore he has been invited by enterprises to give lectures on China´s foreign trade policy and address on the opportunities and challenges the enterprises might face in the background of China´s Foreign Trade Agreement moves with neighboring countries.

Mr. Li has served as a member of the ASEAN-China Economic Cooperation Expert Group. He is now a member of the East Asia Think-Tank Network, a program adopted by commercial ministers of the ASEAN Plus Three.

Bio

1972: Li Wei was born in China.

1994: He graduated from Shanghai International Studies University and earned his master´s degree in Economics from Bejing Institute of Technology.

He is now an Associate Research Fellow and Deputy Director of Departement of Asian & African Studies, Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation.

He has served as a member of China-ASEAN Economic Cooperation Expert Group. The Group has played a key role in the Establishment of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area by drafting the feasibility report.
