Article

a (non)material girl

Kalinowska´s art is filled with material, often old and needless, objects - strings, gums balloons, confetti but also machines, technical devices and photographs. But there is, seemingly, no space for a human being.
The artist uses objects in a quite perverse way - they play a main role in her works, substitute people, that seem to be useless and unnecessary. Kalinowska shows the immense strength of the material world that , though created by humans, already got more powerful then they. In her works Kalinowska emphasises the strings attached between things and persons, however, she also demonstrates that we are not the ones who pull the strings.
