Safina Uberoi studied film-making initially in Delhi and later at the Australian Film Television and Radio School. Her films include the award-winning short Guru (1994) and several documentaries, including Faith (2000) and The Brides of Khan (2001) for SBS. She has worked in the theatre as an actor and director, and has also been active in promoting Indian cinema to Australian audiences. My Mother India, her most recent film, has won many awards, including the Rouben Mamoulian awards at the Sydney Film Festival, and the special jury award at Hawaii.
