Article

Niki Karimi is one of Iran’s most talented and best-known screen actors. Born in 1971 in Tehran, she has appeared in around 21 films and has won Best Actress awards at both national and international film festivals, for example, in 1993 in San Sebastian and Nantes, 1999 in Taormina and just two years later at the Cairo Film Festival. Her director debut came with “To Have or not to Have” (2001), a documentary examining the problems facing childless couples in a society where infertility is considered a disgrace and ranks as the main reason for divorce.
