Jitish Kallat, born in 1974 in Mumbai, studied at the Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai. (Gallery Chemould, Mumbai). Selected group exhibitions include, in 2003: Indians+Cowboys (Sydney); the tree from the seed (Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, Oslo); Arco 2003 (Madrid); in 2002: Under Construction (The Japan Foundation/Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery); Singapore Art Fair; in 2001: ‘Bombay/Mumbai 1992–2001’ in Century City: Art and Culture in the Modern Metropolis (Tate Modern, London); in 2000: Seventh Havana Biennale; in 2000, 1999, 1998: Kunstrai, International Art Fair (Amsterdam); in 1999: First Fukuoka Asian Art Triennale. The artist lives and works in Mumbai.
